China to raise retirement age: state media

China announced it will gradually raise the statutory retirement age to address its ageing population and demographic challenges. For men, the retirement age will increase from 60 to 63 years, while for women it will rise from 50 or 55 years to 55 and 58 years, depending on job type. The changes will start in 2025.
