The Arizona Golf Association (AGA) recently named four inductees to its Hall of Fame, including longtime Paradise Valley CC Superintendent Rob Collins.

Since joining the Paradise Valley team in 1995, Collins has led a number of water conservation initiatives and projects. These range from renovations that have focused on improved irrigation and turfgrass reduction to a case study that was heavily featured by the USGA. Collins often uses his Paradise Valley Country Club work to educate others on water conservation practices at golf conferences and trade shows.

Collins also currently serves as the Arizona Alliance for Golf’s Water Policy committee chairman. In that role, he serves on the front lines of water-related discussions between the AAG and the Arizona Department of Water Resources as they seek common-sense regulations for the state’s commercial water users. Collins has also held several roles with the Cactus & Pine GCSA and is currently the board treasurer.

Before his three-decade run at Paradise Valley Country Club, Collins interned at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, where he worked in preparation for The Memorial Tournament and performing course renovations. That was followed by his first stint in Arizona as the assistant golf course superintendent at Troon Golf & Country Club before moving to Missouri for a little over a year as the Golf Course Superintendent at Forest Hills Country Club.

In addition to Collins, the AGA will induct Amy Fruhwirth and Joe Shershenovich, who were selected as modern candidates, and longtime Arizona Golf Association Executive Director Ed Gowa, who was named a legacy candidate. They will be inducted during a ceremony at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
