Hat, Hood, and Stamp

Hat, Hood, and Stamp is a minimalist lighting collection by the Melbourne-based design practice, SOZOU Studio. The collection consists of three styles of lighting fixtures: the Hat pendant light, Hood sconce, and Stamp table lamp. Each piece is characterized by its geometric form, created by combining simple polygonal shapes, resulting in a series of understated and approachable designs.

Brass casings anchor each light, from where panels of metal and architectural rough-cast glass delicately hang to surround the fixtures’ bulbs. These panels introduce a textural element to the light and are loosely connected by small, brass rings, allowing them to gently sway in the air. Despite their delicate appearance, each design is grounded: Stamp stands sturdily on its cylindrical brass legs, while Hood and Hat comfortably defy gravity with the support of their brass backing and armature.

“There is an eternal beauty in objects despite their date of manufacture or design trends; a beauty that remains intact throughout time and that we all can feel and experience when looking at a well-made product,” shares SOZOU Studio. “At our studio, we attempt to think with the concept of timeless beauty and reinterpret it through contemporary approaches.”

A beautiful reimagination of proto-shapes, the designs in the Hat, Hood, and Stamp collection provide a refined approach to lighting for any interior. Each fixture enhances the space it occupies through its soft, subtle luminosity and contemporary form.
