Coffee shop opening fifth location in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Stacks Espresso Bar is opening up its fifth location in the Capital Region. The local coffee shop chain is opening in the former Stagecoach Coffee space at 90 State Street in Albany.
Stacks Espresso Bar has other locations on Lark Street and Broadway in Albany, Third Street in Troy, and Albany Shaker Road in Colonie. Stacks CEO Susan Dunckel said this shop will be similar to Stacks' Troy location, as it will have late night hours and a special menu.
"We wanted the opportunity to offer something a little different in downtown Albany," said Dunckel.
The State Street location is three blocks away from the Broadway store. Dunckel said the Broadway shop gets very busy and nothing will be changing about it when the new location opens.
For the State Street menu, Dunckel is thinking about having donuts, a pour over bar, pastries, grab-and-go sandwiches, and of course, coffee. The late night menu may feature desserts and cocktails.
The former Stagecoach space in under construction right now, said Dunckel. She doesn't know what the exact hours will be yet, but it'll be open morning to evening, with later hours on Friday and Saturday.
She's hoping for the Stacks State Street location to be open before Christmas. As for the expansion of Stacks, Dunckel said they will continue to open more shops and are thinking about a franchise or leasing model in the future.
