Mariners Moose Tracks, 9/13/24: Cal Raleigh, Corey Seager, and Nori Aoki
Big Dumper is ours and you can’t have him!
Good morning everyone! It’s Friday, and we’ve got what you need as you close out the week.
In Mariners news...
- Davy Andrews at Fangraphs poured some love on Cal Raleigh, who he notes has been one of the most underrated (and consistent) catchers in the game since debuting. I’m sure this article is music to Scott Boras’ ears, and hopefully the Mariners wise up and sign him to a well-earned extension.
- Bryan Woo has certainly embraced the memes about him — and Ric Flair has embraced him in turn!

Around the league...
- The Twins have released minor league catcher Derek Bender, their 6th-round pick from this year, after it was revealed he was intentionally tipping pitches to his opponents to prevent his own team from making the playoffs because he “wanted the season to be over.”
- Corey Seager is set to undergo season-ending sports hernia surgery.
- Well, that didn’t take long — the A’s-to-Sacramento deal seems to have hit another speed bump.
- Former Mariner alert!
Sanspo has reported that Nori Aoki will retire at the end of the season

- At this point, what are we even doing here?
NEW: The 20-year-old Real ID requirement for domestic flights is getting delayed again - kind of.
— Kyle Potter (@kpottermn) September 12, 2024
With just 56% of IDs in circulation being Real ID compliant, the TSA is now pushing for a "phased in" approach ... which would push full enforcement all the way out to May 2027.
