Everton make surprising decision on Sean Dyche’s future

It’s not been the best start to the 2024/25 Premier League season for Everton Football Club and Sean Dyche.

For a manager that always tries to accentuate the positives, three losses from their opening three games isn’t arguably the way in which the 53-year-old would’ve wanted to begin the campaign.

In some respects the chaos on the field mirrors that off it, as the Toffees appear to lurch from one crisis to another.

Sean Dyche given the dreaded vote of confidence

After the collapse of a potential takeover with 777 Partners, current owner, Farhad Moshiri, appears to be attempting to resurrect some kind of deal with John Textor, ahead of next season’s move into a brand new stadium at Bramley-Moore dock.

A state-of-the-art new home would look significantly out of place in the Championship, but if Dyche can’t pull the club out of their current tailspin, that’s exactly where they’re headed.

Sean Dyche has been given a vote of confidence to the end of the season by the Everton hierarchy

Although there would be good reason to dispense with the manager’s services if results continue on a negative spiral, according to The Telegraph (subscription required) that will make no difference to Dyche’s position.

That’s because the outlet note that Moshiri and director of football, Kevin Thelwell, are both of the opinion that Dyche needs to be given the rest of the season to turn things around.

Clearly, with everything else that’s going on around the club, managerial upheaval now would only add to the mess the club finds itself in.

If Dyche can eventually find that sweet spot that he has over the past couple of seasons, even if Everton only survive by the skin of their teeth, it will be considered a success.

Whether he would then be given the chance to take them forward in their new home from next season is a moot point.
