'Reckless': Ex-prosecutor says Trump should be 'detained pending trial' for latest actions

Donald Trump should have his pre-trial release "revoked" in his criminal cases because of the "reckless lies" he's spreading about Haitian immigrants, according to a former federal prosecutor.

Ex-prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said in a video released Saturday that Trump is endangering lives of "entire populations" by telling "despicable lies" about them, including that they are stealing and eating local residents' cats and dogs. The legal analyst highlighted recent bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio, which are suspected to have stemmed from Trump's attacks on Haitian immigrants and have led to school closures for multiple days.

"The law provides that a defendant who is on pre-trial release in a criminal case, if he poses a danger to society or even one person in society, he should be revoked on release and detained pending trial," Kirschner said.

Kirschner goes on to say the courts, prosecutors, and "all institutions of government" are wrongfully "allowing" Trump to endanger lives.

"Why is he allowed to do it?" the ex-prosecutor asks.

"He's being prosecuted for telling his supporters lies about stolen votes and rigged elections," he said Saturday. "He inspired his supporters to violence, and violence ensued. And while he's on pre-trial release in that criminal case, he is telling new lies about entire populations, Haitian immigrants, including Haitian Americans, inspiring his supporters to violence, and violence ensues. Bomb threats. School closings. Anxiety, fear, desperation. And he's allowed to do it. He's allowed to do it with no repercussions."
