Middle school student, 13, arrested in Long Island for possessing brass knuckles
LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A 13-year-old boy was arrested for having brass knuckles at a local Long Island middle school, Suffolk County Police Department announced Friday.
Police said the boy, a student at Samoset Middle School in Lake Ronkonkoma, was stopped by a school employee at 1 p.m. and asked to empty his bag. The teen was stopped because of an unrelated incident that led to the search, authorities said.
The student had brass knuckles.
Police officers arrested the teen and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned in family court at a later date, police said.
It remains unclear what incident may have led to the teen being searched. Due to his age, his name was not released.
