Joe Burrow was livid as a costly Bengals pass interference penalty set up the Chiefs' game-winning field goal

For two teams that aren’t even in the same division, there isn’t a better rivalry than what we’ve seen between the Bengals and Chiefs in recent years. And once again, the game came down to the final drive.

One look at Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and you’ll know exactly what leaving Arrowhead Stadium with a win would have meant for Cincinnati on Sunday.

Facing a fourth-and-16 play down by two points, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes aired out a desperation pass to Rashee Rice. The pass fell incomplete, but a flag came flying into view as Bengals cornerback Daijahn Anthony went through Rice’s back.

This was called DPI on fourth and 16 to give the #Chiefs a first down.

While the Chiefs have benefited from some questionable calls in the Mahomes era, you can’t blame the officiating on that one. Anthony was early with the contact, and it wasn’t particularly close.

Burrow’s reaction on the sidelines, though, showed the true roller coaster emotions of that play.

The Bengals quarterback was ready to celebrate the win before seeing the flag. He responded by slamming his helmet out of frustration, and Harrison Butker secured the win for Kansas City a few plays later.

It was a play that the Bengals would certainly like to have back.
