Off the Beaten Path: North Creek Depot Museum

NORTH CREEK, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Tourists travel from near and far to visit a site where presidential history was made. The North Creek Depot Museum is a New York State Theodore Roosevelt Historic Site, one of ten such sites along the Theodore Roosevelt Heritage Trail.

At the North Creek station platform, on September 14, 1901, Roosevelt learned of the death of President McKinley and his own succession to the Presidency of the United States of America. It was a pivotal moment that would forever change his life.

In addition to this well-known story, the museum celebrates the local ski history and its impact on the development of the area, as well as the preservation of local railroad history. Room by room, you'll find a wide-array of artifacts, exhibits, memorabilia and displays.

The North Creek Depot Museum is located at 5 Railroad Place in North Creek. During the fall, the museum is open Thursday-Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
