Brennan Johnson comes in for criticism

Johnson still had a lot to prove coming into this season as he was unable to show any sort of consistency in his first campaign at Tottenham, with many fans feeling that he was yet to justify his large price tag.

Unfortunately, the season has not started the way the 23-year-old would have wanted as he has looked poor in the games he has played so far, with his clumsiness in the final third causing plenty of frustration.

The Welsh winger is yet to record a goal or an assist so far this season, although he did force an own goal against Newcastle.

Johnson deactivates his Instagram account

The Wales international has come in for a lot of criticism once again after Tottenham’s loss in the North London Derby.

The likes of Jamie O’Hara have piled on, with the talkSPORT pundit remarking that the winger is “even more frustrating” to watch in the flesh than he is on television.

The Mirror have revealed that Johnson has responded by deactivating his Instagram account to shield himself from the barrage that has come his way.

Spurs Web Opinion

I never understand the mindset of fans who tag a player while criticising his performances or who directly comment unpleasant things on a player’s post.

One has to be a toddler to not grasp the fact that Johnson would be more upset with his own performances than any of us are, and he certainly cannot be accused of a lack of effort.

While fans are entitled to share their opinions of whether players are good enough or not, it is extremely childish to directly criticise a player on his profile.
