APD detectives investigate south Austin double homicide
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin Police Department homicide detectives investigated a south Austin residence Saturday after a 9-1-1 caller asked for a welfare check of the home.
APD posted on X at 1:50 p.m. that homicide detectives were "conducting an investigation regarding a deceased person" in the 2300 block of Brookhill Drive.
That area is south of West Stassney Lane and west of Menchaca Road.
During a news conference on Saturday, police did not say why the person called to have officers check on the people who lived there.
An APD public information officer said at a media briefing that officers found two deceased people in the home.
"Officers arrived and they made entry to do that welfare check and they located two obviously deceased individuals with multiple trauma wounds incompatible with life," Cpl. Matthew Nonweiler said.
Police did not immediately release how the people died.
A person of interest is in custody, according to Nonweiler, but that person's connection to the incident has not yet been released by police.
"That person is being investigated by homicide detectives," Nonweiler said.
Police said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
More details were expected to be released in the coming days, according to police.
