Nishida's first challenger named, Pradabsri lined up for WBC shot

It’s fair to say that over the last few years the Thai scene has cooled down, a lot, and what was once one of the most active, interesting and unique scenes in world boxing has become less and less relevant, with fewer Thai’s getting world title fights, and fewer fights of note taking place in the Land of Smiles. With that in mind we’re glad to report two stories regarding Thai’s fighting for world titles in the near future.

One of those will see former WBC Minimumweight champion Panya Pradabsri (43-2, 27), aka Petchmanee CP Freshmart [ปัญญา ประดับศรี] get a chance to become a 2-weight world champion as he has been ordered to face Carlos Canizales (27-2-1, 19) for the vacant WBC Light Flyweight title. At the time of writing it’s unclear when this bout will take place, though Panya’s team made it clear that they were looking to secure home advantage for their man and had a lot of money lined up to bring the bout to Thailand.

The other bout we know a lot more about and will see Anuchai Donsua (16-0, 7) become the first challenger for IBF Bantamweight champion Ryosuke Nishida (9-0, 1) [西田凌佑], with the bout reportedly set for December 15th in Japan, though the venue is yet to be to be determined. It’s assumed, though yet to be announced, that the bout will take place in Osaka on a show likely to be promoted by Koki Kameda and LUSHBOMU, who look to continue their working relationship.

At the moment the bout hasn’t been announced by Japanese sources, though typically December bouts in Japan are announced in or around October with only two Japanese December shows officially confirmed at the time of writing, and one of those hasn't yet had the bouts confirmed given it's a Rookie of the Year show that still has tournament bouts to determined the competitiors.
