Michael Dawson thrilled by one aspect of ‘brilliant’ Tottenham on Saturday
Michael Dawson is over the moon at what he saw from Tottenham on Saturday, pointing out that the Lilywhites reacted brilliantly to going a goal down.
Tottenham fought back to beat Brentford 3-1
Even though this was only Tottenham’s fifth game of the Premier League campaign, the pressure was certainly on for Ange Postecoglou and the players ahead of the game.
In fact, it would not be inaccurate to describe Saturday’s clash as a ‘must-win’, given the criticism that the North London side were coming under after their losses to Newcastle and Arsenal, and their performance against Coventry City in mid-week.
The situation went from bad to worse when the home side conceded less than a minute after kick-off, with the goal leaving the players and the fans stunned.
However, what followed was a barrage of attacks from Postecoglou’s men, who rather than looking short of confidence, played with the sort of intent and aggression that one would expect from a team that has full confidence in their approach and their quality.
The Bees struggled to cope with what Tottenham were throwing at them, with Spurs emerging with a deserved 3-1 win.
Michael Dawson loved how Spurs reacted to early goal
When asked to describe Tottenham’s display, Dawson said (via Fox Sports): “Convincing performance (and) convincing result. (Spurs) reacted brilliantly, they really, really did. From that moment there was only going to be one team on the front foot (who) was going to win his football match.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The way Tottenham played even after conceding that early goal was clear evidence that the players have fully bought into Postecoglou’s methods and are not concerned by the outside noise, which is a great sign.
