Brennan Johnson silences his critics

Johnson’s off-field issues have been well documented, with the Tottenham winger having to deactivate his Instagram account due to the criticism he was receiving following the North London Derby.

The 23-year-old has delivered the perfect response to that, scoring in back-to-back matches against Coventry City and Brentford, with his goal against the Bees being particularly well taken.

The winger received the ball on the right, skipped past the defender and smashed the ball into the far corner confidently to put his side 2-1 up.

Brennan Johnson’s stats show how good he was

The former Nottingham Forest man would be disappointed that he did not score another, getting on the end of a couple of more golden chances, with the stats bearing out that he was a threat all game.

WhoScored revealed that Johnson had six shots, out of which two were on target. The winger made one key pass and was dispossessed just twice all game.

The platform gave the Wales international a rating of 7.41 while FotMob reveals that the attacker got 10 touches in the opposition box.

Considering he only had an xG of 0.49, Johnson also scored the all-important goal to put Spurs 2-1 up on the day. He even went close to scoring a couple of other shots from tight angles.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Johnson’s pace and his movement make him a constant threat in the final third, perhaps his best attribute is his work rate off the ball, with the winger being a tireless presser.

Having him, Solanke and Son leading the line makes us a nightmare for opposition defenders, who do not have a second of breathing space on the ball.
