Huge blow to Danny Dyer as show with daughter Dani is brutally AXED after just one series
Danny Dyer and daughter Dani won’t be sending any more joint postcards as their travel show has been grounded.
I can reveal Channel 4 have pulled the plug after just one series, despite the duo being keen to film more.
The four-parter, called Absolutely Dyer: Danny and Dani Do Italy, was a hit with fans after it aired on E4 last May, but that was not enough to persuade the broadcaster to book the pair on another trip.
A TV insider said: “Danny and Dani loved filming the Italy series, they had a laugh and it was great bonding time.
“They discussed doing more, even exploring regions in the UK, which would have been cheaper to make. But Channel 4 have decided once is enough and they won’t be back for more.”
The insider added: “Danny and Dani are still really well thought of as a telly duo, as shown on Celebrity Gogglebox, so they might return in a different guise on the channel.”
It’s fair to say the Dyers were very much themselves in Italy, and brought their own unique language.
Indeed, I revealed the pair swore 74 times in the opening episode alone, including 50 F-bombs. They also wanted to ask some “big questions” — including “Do Italians eat Cornettos?”
I told last week that Danny’s Sky Max comedy Mr Big Stuff has been renewed for a second series following its successful launch in July.
Plus he also stars in racy drama Rivals, based on the Jilly Cooper novel, which is released on Disney+ in October, so his career continues to thrive following his EastEnders exit in December 2022.
Lucrative gigs
Meanwhile, Dani is looking after her three young children, including twins with England star Jarrod Bowen, while also racking up lucrative endorsement gigs on top of other work offers coming in.
Danny and Dani won’t have any problems forking out for another holiday. And now they won’t have a camera crew following their every move.
Crosby delivers Spin-Off
Paramount+ has commissioned Geordie Shore: Charlotte’s Having Another Baby[/caption]Charlotte Crosby has landed a spin-off reality show after announcing she is expecting her second child.
Paramount+ has commissioned Geordie Shore: Charlotte’s Having Another Baby.
It will follow the TV star and her fiancé Jake Ankers as they prepare for the arrival of their baby in January 2025 while raising daughter Alba Jean.
The series will even feature some familiar faces from Charlotte’s Geordie Shore days including ex-boyfriend Gary Crosby.
Charlotte said: “I’m beyond excited to show you all our special journey as we prepare for baby number two! I hope you’re all ready for the madness in my most favourite era yet – motherhood.”
We can’t wait.
Little Mix star Perrie has been added to the line-up of famous faces joining Graham Norton on his BBC One chat show on October 4. The singer will be performing her new single, You Go Your Way, before sharing a sofa with the likes of Neneh Cherry, Greg Davies, and Sebastian Stan.
Michael on trial for the BBC
This Is England’s Michael Socha returns as a cocky copper in Showtrial[/caption]Edgy legal drama Showtrial is returning for a second series with a whole new cast, including This Is England’s Michael Socha as a cocky copper.
BBC One’s sequel centers around the murder of high-profile climate activist Marcus Calderwood who, with his last breath, identifies a policeman as the culprit.
Michael, who plays PC Justin Mitchell, said: “This second series is completely different from the first. It covers a lot of things happening in society – climate change, police misogyny, and toxic masculinity. Themes that are quite relevant.
“The joy of playing Justin comes with his ambiguity, and you never really know what he’s thinking. There’s a lot of reasons behind his bravado. Ultimately Justin is a damaged character.”
That’s just how we like them.
Series 3 is a Sher to thrill
Sherwood, starring David Morrissey, above, is set to return for a third series[/caption]The BBC has given the green light to a third series of thriller Sherwood.
The drama, set in the troubled communities of Nottinghamshire, has just aired for a second season with Lesley Manville and David Morrissey leading the cast alongside new arrival Robert Lindsay.
But we can expect to see some other big-name actors joining the show for its third outing on BBC One.
After developing quite a following, Sherwood’s writer James Graham said: “My biggest appreciation goes to our audiences and I’m determined to deliver for them in a series three.
“There will be a new set of stories, and the continuation – and completion – of some strands I’ve been dreaming of for some time.”
Filming of the third series is likely to start next year but probably will not air until 2026.
Daytime detective series Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators has had a fifth series commissioned. The BBC show has just started filming with returning cast including Jo Joyner, Mark Benton, and Patrick Walshe McBride reprising their central roles.
Jack the lad
Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has been discussing living with his David Platt character’s bad-boy image[/caption]CORONATION Street star Jack P Shepherd clearly can’t shake his character’s bad boy image.
The soap star – aka Weatherfield’s David Platt – discovered as much on a recent trip to B&Q when he took his mother in law’s broken shower head into his local store to match it up with a replacement.
Talking to the On the Sofa podcast, he said: “I took it in, I had my shades on, I go to the bathroom section and there’s this couple there.
“I see the right shower head and I’m unscrewing the thing and matching it up with the one in the bag and this woman clocks me; she’s thinking I’m half inching it!
“Then she clicks and she goes ‘oh I’m so sorry, I thought, I know you.”
The price of fame, eh Jack?
