Vermont woman charged with neglecting 10 puppies in Whitehall
WHITEHALL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police reported the arrest of a Milton, Vermont woman following an animal neglect investigation. Rebecca Beaupre, 24, was charged with 10 counts of overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals.
On July 11 around 5:30 p.m., troopers responded to a home in Whitehall after receiving a report that ten puppies younger than four weeks old had been abandoned there. The following investigation determined that Beaupre allegedly took the animals from their canine mother without the permission or knowledge of the owner.
According to state police, Beaupre then brought the puppies to the Whitehall home and left them in kennels without food or water for an extended period. The dogs have since been returned to their owner.
Beaupre was taken into custody in Hartford, New York on September 14. She was released after being issued an appearance ticket for September 23 at the Whitehall Village Court.
