“I found out today that every email I’ve sent since I was 10 from my primary email has the auto signature: “I’m in love with Justin Bieber’s new haircut”, she said in a video posted to TikTok.
“The only reason I found out is because my manager brought it up.
“Why did no one tell me, and how come it doesn’t show up when I’m writing the emails?”
Jessica’s (@jessicastahle31) video when viral, quickly racking up over two million views, so she made a second video, to give a more detailed explanation.
In this video, she explained that her manager had actually reacted really well to the signature, stating that they thought it was “quirky” and “fun”.
However, Jessica said that the embarrassment kept her up all night, and that she has lost a lot of sleep due to the hilarious blunder.
“I’ve applied to countless jobs using that email address”, she said.
“That email address is my primary form of contact with my extended family.”
She added that she had even applied to university using that email address, and fumed that no one had ever pointed out the signature her.
She now believes that the signature could have been the reason that she has been rejected from jobs in the past.
“Take this as a cautionary tale to just double check your Gmail settings and make sure that your auto signature is what you would like it to be”, she said.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on her blunder, with many sharing similar hilarious tales.
One person said: “I accidentally sent several work emails from my cat’s email account (he’s big on Instagram lol)”
A second person said: “I can’t believe nobody told you!”
A third person said: “I would feel so failed by everyone around me if no one told me I was doing this lol.”
A fourth person added: “My email signature was Katie Bieber until one of my college professors pointed it out!”
