'Manager got a little nervous': Restaurant that boxed out J.D. Vance responds to criticism

Sen. J.D. Vance was reportedly forced to shake fans' hands in a parking lot after his campaign was denied entry into a sandwich shop, and now the restaurant has put out a statement sharing its side of things.

NBC senior political desk editor Doug Adams reported on Saturday that Donald Trump's pick for V.P. "intended to make a stop at a Primanti Bros near Pittsburgh." Primanti, "a chain of sandwich shops in the eastern United States" that was founded in 1933, reportedly told Vance no cameras were allowed, and the restaurant didn’t want to be part of a “campaign event."

According to the report, "Vance ended up shaking hands outside in parking lot."

The reported snub led to MAGA outrage, but the sandwich shop sought to put a stop to that Saturday night.

The restaurant and bar took to social media, stating that "Primanti's prides itself on being a staple of the Pittsburgh community and a proud American business that has hosted sitting presidents, politicians, and political candidates from across the spectrum for over 90 years. Our doors are open to all patrons who wish to dine with us."

"Without any advance notice, today's campaign stop caused some momentary confusion for our staff," the restaurant continued. "However, Senator Vance and his team were welcomed into our restaurant shortly after and engaged with our guests inside and on the property."

The statement further claims that, "Senator Vance's supportive comments that our manager got a little nervous given the Secret Service, police and crowd accurately reflect the nature of what occurred, and we are glad that it was resolved quickly."

Trump's former acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark, who was indicted alongside the ex-president in Georgia, wasn't buying it.

"How long did it take you [Primanti Bros] to write up this lame spin?" he asked late Saturday. "This didn’t come from a Spin Doctor but from a Spin Neurosurgeon. No one’s buying it even so."
