Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Scotland grabs an 8 wicket win over Pakistan in warm-up game
On the opening day of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan team got destroyed by Scotland. Being ranked 12th, Scotland chased down the target of 133 with two overs and eight wickets to spare.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and chose to bat first. Pakistan team suffered a mini collapse in the powerplay. Olivia Bell struck twice along with Kathryn Bryce dismissing opener Sadaf Shamas. Sidra Ami and Nida Dar were both dismissed for four runs.
Gull Feroza was taken down by Abtaha Maqsood, but Muneeba Ali and Omaima Sohail took the sail of the team. Their partnership was broken in 11th over.
In the penultimate over, Omaima went back after scoring 30 runs off 29 runs. Skipper Fatima’s knock of 14-ball 20, along with Javed’s 9-ball 12 helped the team reach 132/9.

Scotland started their run chase with a good start. Scotland was at 38 runs for no loss by the end of powerplay. Openers Saskia ad Sarah Bryce continued making runs. It was during the 12th over, that the partnership got broken by Nashra Sandhu, as she dismissed Sasika who had scored 48 runs off 42 balls.
Sarah reached her half-century in the 16th over with a six. In the 18th over, Nida run out Kathryn which resulted the score being levelled. Megan McColl stepped onto the pitch and ended their chase with a single run.
