Deadly floods kill 150, dozens missing in Nepal

As the death toll from the devastating flood in Nepal’s capital continues to rise, officials report that approximately 150 people have been killed, with around 60 others missing.

International media, citing Nepalese officials, reported that the deadly event occurred on Sunday, September 29, in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

Since Friday, monsoon rains have submerged large areas of Nepal, prompting authorities to warn about the risk of sudden flooding in many rivers.

Basanta Adhikari, spokesperson for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, stated that officials are working to rescue those affected by the flood and provide aid.

Over 3,000 security personnel have been deployed to assist with rescue operations using helicopters and motorboats in the flood-hit regions.

Additionally, landslides have closed many highways, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded, and more than 150 domestic flights from Kathmandu have been canceled since Friday evening.

It is also noteworthy that domestic and international flights from Kathmandu have been suspended, with over 150 flights still canceled.

Nepalese officials have warned that the death toll may continue to rise.
