Registration open for 77th Annual Troy Turkey Trot

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Runners can now register for the 77th Annual Troy Turkey Trot on Thursday, Nov. 28. The 12th oldest race in the United States will offer a 5K, 10K, Grade School Mile, and Turkey Walk.

Anyone looking to participate in a race can register on the Troy Turkey Trot website. The first race is the 10K at 8 a.m., followed by the Grade School Run at 9:30 a.m., the Turkey Walk at 9:35 a.m., and the 5K will kick off at 10 a.m.

Teams and families can sign up for several categories at no extra charge. Every race follows the same course, starting at 4th Street and ending at Fulton Street, finishing at the River Street Monument Square.

All races are available virtually for anyone unable to attend in person. Virtual attendance is self-timed, and results are uploaded to the race's registration platform.

Event Director George Regan said the two leading charities benefitting from the race are the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and Joseph's House and Shelter. Last year, runners donated $22,050, and Mayor Carmella Mantello said the city is thrilled to keep the race tradition alive.

"This beloved event brings families together and supports those affected by hunger and homelessness," Mantello said. "It’s more than a race; it’s an opportunity to connect with neighbors and make a meaningful impact on one of America’s most beloved holidays."
