BADAGRY GENERAL HOSPITAL TASKS STAFF ON QUALITY HEALTHCARE DELIVERY
The Medical Director/CEO of Badagry General Hospital, Dr. Olatunde Bakare has charged the employees of the General Hospital to ensure they deliver quality health care in the line of duty as they strive to show more empathy.
Bakare stated this at the hospital’s quarterly staff assembly held recently during a presentation tagged: “Employee Motivation”.
The Medical Director urged them to be more caring when attending to patients while providing quality healthcare that meets patients’ needs in the environment
He added that being a self-made health worker was critical to optimising healthcare delivery for people in the environment, enjoining them to know that putting oneself in another person’s condition and above peripheral challenges would enhance healthcare delivery in the hospital.
The Head of Department of Medical Social Welfare, Mrs. Kafayat Dabiri-Bakare, who underscored the importance of employee motivation as an intrinsic and internal drive to put forth the necessary efforts and action towards related activities, noted that the responsibility, promotion and reward to boosting productivity, effectiveness, are key components of quality healthcare that must be demonstrated daily with efficacy, efficiency and effectiveness.
She encouraged her colleagues to understand the strategic impact of being motivated, stressing that the onus is on them to impact lives and thus save lives
Mr. Bamidele Odugbile of the Admin and Human Resources Department drew the attention of the participants to bonding within their various departments, adding that it increases employees’ morale.
Mr. Reuben Hopo on the Public Affairs Unit, while urging his colleagues to always avoid inherent danger when communicating with patients, admonished them to always display empathy first before going into communication with them.
Hopo said, “According to George Bernard Shaw: the biggest problem of communication is the illusion that it has taken place” and thus called on his colleagues to always say words that reflect empathy and compassion.
