Arkansas To Play Baylor in Dallas
FAYETTEVILLE – The first weekend of the 2024-25 college basketball season will have a premier matchup as Arkansas and Baylor will square off on Nov. 9 (Saturday) in Dallas’ American Airlines Center – home of the Mavericks and Stars. Tipoff is set for 6:30 pm (CT) and the contest will be broadcast on ESPNU.
The game between Arkansas, ranked #14 in the ESPN early preseason poll, and Baylor, predicted #6, will honor the nation’s military in conjunction with Veteran’s Day, celebrated on Nov. 11.
As a bonus, both fanbases will not have to worry about having to choose between supporting either the basketball or football programs that weekend as the Razorback and Bear football programs will have an open date on Nov. 9.
Tickets for the game go on public sale on Oct. 3 (Thurs.) at 10 am (CT) at Ticketmaster.com and on the Ticketmaster app. For additional information, follow BDG Sports on social media at @bdGlobalSports on Facebook, X or Instagram.
“For fans of college basketball, it will be great to see two teams that will likely start the season among the top 25 playing each other so early in the season,” Razorback head coach John Calipari said. ”As a program, are excited to be playing in Dallas. The Metroplex is home to a large number of alumni and current students from the University of Arkansas. We like the fact that we will be able to connect with them and believe we will have a tremendous turnout.”
Arkansas and Baylor have met on 145 previous occasions and the Razorbacks lead the series, 96-49. Baylor is one of six teams the Razorbacks have faced at least 100 times in its history, joining Texas A&M (169), Texas (155), SMU (155), Rice (144) and TCU (143).
The last time the programs met was Jan. 28, 2023, for the SEC-Big 12 Challenge in Waco, a game then #17 Baylor won 67-64. Prior to that, then #3 Baylor defeated then #10 Arkansas in the 2021 NCAA Elite 8. This will be just the fifth time Arkansas and Baylor have met since the Razorbacks left the Southwest Conference after the 1990-91 season.
The Razorbacks and Bears have met in Dallas five times and Arkansas owns a 4-1 advantage in those matchups, including an Arkansas victory in American Airlines Center in 2008.
Overall, Arkansas is 24-13 all-time in Dallas thanks in part to winning four SWC Tournament titles in Reunion Arena (1982, ’89, ’90 and ’91). Arkansas is 2-2 in Dallas’ American Airlines Center, including:
• a win versus Texas Tech, 78-65, on Dec. 21, 2005.
• a loss to Bucknell in the 2006 NCAA 1st Round.
• a win versus Baylor, 85-78, on Jan. 5, 2008.
• a loss to Texas A&M, 71-62 (OT), on Dec. 18, 2010.
