Vernon Vipers Make A Pair of Transactions, Acquire Defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk from Victoria Grizzlies
Vernon, BC – The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that they have acquired the BCHL playing rights to 2004-born defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk from the Victoria Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations.
“Keaton is a veteran defenceman with over 200 games of junior hockey experience,” said Lukas Lomicky, Head Coach of the Vernon Vipers. “He’s a strong skater who sees the ice well, has a great ability to exit the puck from the defensive zone, and plays with an edge. He will be a key addition to stabilize our back end and fit seamlessly into our system.”
Dowhaniuk, a native of Sherwood Park, brings a wealth of experience, having appeared in 228 games in the WHL, along with 29 playoff appearances, including a deep postseason run last year with the Cougars.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for the Vipers,” Dowhaniuk said. “I’m excited to get started and look forward to what this season holds.”
Standing 6’0″ tall and weighing 163 pounds, Dowhaniuk shoots left and is expected to make an immediate impact on the Vipers’ blueline.
To make room for Dowhaniuk on the roster, the Vipers have traded defenceman Carson Lloyd to the Spruce Grove Saints, also in exchange for future considerations.
The Vernon Vipers would like to thank Carson for his time and dedication to the team and wish him all the best in Spruce Grove.
Please join us in welcoming Keaton Dowhaniuk and his family to the Vipers organization.
