Schoolgirl, 12, grabbed and put in headlock by stranger in street as cops issue CCTV & launch urgent hunt
COPS have launched an urgent hunt for a stranger who put a schoolgirl in a headlock.
The 12-year-old was on Plessy Road in Blyth, Northumberland when the attacker grabbed her.
The victim managed to escape and while she was not injured, she was left shaken.
The attack happened on September 12 at around 3.40pm.
Cops have looked into CCTV footage from the time and found a man who may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “The offender then grabbed the victim and attempted to put her in a headlock before she managed to escape.
“The girl was left uninjured but shaken by the incident.
“We have today released an image of a man we wish to speak to as part of our investigation.
“He was in the area at the time the assault is reported to have taken place and we believe he may be able to assist with our enquiries.
“We appreciate that the image is not the clearest but hope that someone will recognise the individual.”
