'Not going to affect the polls': Karl Rove throws cold water on Vance's debate performance
Fox News analyst Karl Rove predicted that Sen. J.D. Vance's (R-OH) debate against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) would have little or no impact on voters.
The day after the 2024 vice presidential debate, Rove told Fox News host John Roberts that Vance had performed well.
"Well, it was a very good night for him," Rove said. "But, no, look, the first debate where Donald Trump was widely seen in the polls and observers to have lost, it didn't affect the polls."
"The vice presidential debate is not going to affect the polls either," he added.
Rove said Vance could get a boost in how favorably voters viewed the candidate.

"But, no, presidential debates and vice presidential debates do not tend to affect things, particularly vice presidential debates," he insisted. "I mean, this race is stuck, and not to say that it's going to—it may not come unglued at some point."
"But so far, the back-and-forth, the television ads, the campaigning, the debates have done very little to change the numbers."
