Lady Gaga Says She’s Considering a Courthouse Wedding
Lady Gaga is a woman of extremes. When it comes to the pop star, it’s either a bloody meat dress or au naturel. The same can be said of her upcoming wedding plans, which she discussed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night. Gaga, who got engaged to Michael Polansky in April, said she’d be down for some low-maintenance nuptials. “We actually talk about going to the courthouse, just the two of us, and ordering Chinese food,” she said. “Knowing me, also, it could become like a circus with unicorns.”
I agree: Knowing Lady Gaga, it’s hard to imagine these two opting for a quaint wedding. Just look at the massive rock Polansky gave her. Does that scream “chill couple” to you? Then again, the engagement itself wasn’t a huge spectacle. Gaga told Kimmel the proposal happened right after her birthday (she says Polanksy threw her a “beautiful” birthday dinner, of course) during a rock-climbing date. “For real? You climb rocks?” Kimmel marveled. “I mean, I do now,” the 38-year-old said, laughing. “I’d do anything for love.”
After the couple snapped a few photos at the top of the mountain, they descended back down to safety, where Gaga says Polansky popped the question. “We were just walking back to the room and talking and … it was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me,” she said. “He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed, and I was like, ‘Yes! It’s so okay!’
I like what he did,” she added, noting that he chose not to get down on one knee. Gaga is a “modern lady,” after all — and an increasingly no-frills fiancée, it seems. If it were up to me, I’d vote for the unicorn circus. Maybe a trapeze performance. Just putting it out there.
