Spirit Is Eliminating These 32 Routes This Fall

Besides being known for its budget airfare, Spirit Airlines has built a reputation for covering unique routes across the U.S. But some of those trips are about to disappear from the airline's schedule for good, narrowing down flight options for passengers in certain cities.

According to The Points Guy, 32 Spirit routes in total are exiting the system this fall, with some having already been taken out of service. Boston and Dallas–Fort Worth are seeing the most cuts as Spirit competes with other airlines in those markets.

"We routinely evaluate our network and make adjustments to support the company's business strategy based on current market and operating conditions. As part of this process, we updated our upcoming schedule to focus on our strongest performing routes," a Spirit Airlines spokesperson told the publication.

Atlanta to Chicago, Burbank to Portland, Charleston to Detroit, Columbus to Dallas–Fort Worth, Dallas–Fort Worth to Kansas City, Dallas–Fort Worth to Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale to Salt Lake City, Las Vegas to Minneapolis–St. Paul, and San Diego to Salt Lake City have been eliminated from Spirit's schedules effective immediately.

On Oct. 6, the Las Vegas to St. Louis route will be gone. Starting Oct. 7, these routes will no longer be available from Spirit: Nashville to Miami, Boston to Columbus, Boston to Pittsburgh, Charlotte to Chicago, Portland to San Diego, and Portland to San Jose. The following day, Oct. 8, will be the last day for Boston to Charleston and Dallas–Fort Worth to Memphis.

More route cuts are coming later this fall. On Nov. 4, you'll no longer be able to fly Hartford to Orlando, Nashville to Boston, Boston to Kansas City, Boston to Norfolk, Columbus to Newark, and Las Vegas to Louisville. The following day will be the end of Dallas–Fort Worth to Milwaukee and Los Angeles to St. Louis. The day after that, Nov. 6, will be the end of Spirit's Nashville to New York City, Charleston to Las Vegas, Detroit to Newark, and New York to Pittsburgh flights.

Finally, on Dec. 3, Spirit customers can say goodbye to Boston to Chicago and Charleston to New York flights.

If you have any travel plans with Spirit this fall, check to make sure there haven't been any changes. Customers booked on any of the canceled routes will be "notified of their options," an airline rep told Travel + Leisure
