Americans Livid to Learn What Costco Food Courts Serve in Canada
Costco is almost as much of a destination for the retail chain's popular food court as it is for deals on everything from bulk food and household items to whiskey and gold bars. The beloved $1.50 hot dog combo meal alone has been drawing in customers for nearly 40 years. However, some shoppers are just now shocked to learn out what they're missing at Costco food courts in Canada.
This is thanks to a recent Reddit post that has gone viral, which shows that a Costco food court located in downtown Vancouver is now serving a California crab sushi roll. The accompanying photo shows the food court menu items including the sushi roll for $9.99, as well as the hot dog meal and a few other items.
The poster likewise noted that the location is probably the busiest food court in Canada, right across the street from a hockey arena and next to the soccer and football stadium, as well as being accessible without membership.

While several users griped about the lack of sushi at Costco food courts in the United States, many zeroed in on the image of chicken fingers and fries to the far right of the photo, which is also not a standard item south of the Canadian border.
"I’m actually impressed with the chicken tenders and fries!! Wish my Costco had that!" exclaimed one user, while another lamented, "How come America doesn’t have chicken strips and fries?!"
A few users likewise wondered whether the sushi roll was made with real crab, which has been confirmed by a TikTok food influencer who visited the location, noting that it was made with Pacific blue crab, Japanese sushi rice, avocado, and cucumber.
"I never thought I'd see the day—sushi at the Costco food court!" says Laura Ullock of Vancouver Finds. "It's an eight-piece California roll for $9.99, and they're pretty big!" she added, noting that it sounds like they're just the Vancouver location for now.

Meanwhile, some Americans are still salty that Costco doesn't provide mayonnaise as a condiment, so it remains to be seen whether the dream of chicken fingers and sushi ever come to fruition.
