Person critically injured after crash that shut down freeway interchange

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The freeway interchange between I-84 and I-205 has been shut down after a single-vehicle crash left one person seriously injured Wednesday night, authorities said.

Around 7:16 p.m., the Portland Police Bureau said they responded to reports of a crash near the on-ramp from westbound I-84 to northbound I-205. Other responding public safety agencies included Portland Fire & Rescue, American Medical Response and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

"When they arrived, they found a single-vehicle rollover crash," PPB said in a release. "The only occupant of the involved vehicle was critically injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver, an adult male, suffered life-threatening injuries."

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and the freeway interchange ramp remains closed, officials said.
