Gas leak in Richmond caused mile-long closure of major boulevard
RICHMOND — A gas leak Thursday caused a road closure on a significant boulevard, police said.
In an advisory that went out at 11:39 a.m., police called the leak “significant” and that a main break caused it. The leak brought the closure of Carlson Boulevard between Ohio and Pullman avenues.
The stretch of road is a little over a mile. It was not known how long it would be closed.
Authorities did not announce any evacuations.
PG&E sent crews to the scene to examine the damage. Richmond police, fire crews and a hazardous materials team all monitoring the situation, as well, police said.
