Rettamalai Srinivasan who helped the oppressed stand up and seek their rights

Born in 1859 in Chengalpattu into a family of labourers, Srinivasan played a pivotal role in mobilising the marginalised sections. He ran journals for highlighting the sufferings of his people, fought for their rights in the Madras Legislative Council, and served in the Justice Party — with the sole aim of uplifting the vulnerable groups
