'Money changer of the worst kind': GOPer uses Bible for antisemitic George Soros slur

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) lashed out at George Soros by using a Bible passage for an antisemitic slur on the liberal billionaire.

"Lawmakers are investigating George Soros' unprecedented purchase of radio stations right before the presidential election," Fox News host Todd Piro told Burchett on Thursday. "Here's the deal — 200 Odyssey stations are involved. The Soros fund invested $400 million. The deal impacts 40 markets, reaching 165 million Americans."

"Oh, and by the way, let me add $60 million in Democrat contributions have been linked to George Soros this election season," the host noted. "The FCC expedited its normal approval process when it comes to foreign ownership of stations."

Burchett compared the situation to World War II.

"During the Second World War we did not allow foreign entities to own our radio systems," the lawmaker opined. "I think this is just an extension of that. You have a man that does not have America's interests at heart."

"He wants to destroy this country, and that's exactly as a money changer of the worst kind, and he will destroy this country and the economy with it, and this is why, more so than ever, we need Donald Trump in the White House. This kind of nonsense needs to stop," he added.

The phrase "money changer" refers to a Bible passage in which Jesus was said to have cleansed a temple of "greedy" Jewish clerics.

Soros was born in Budapest to non-observant Jewish parents and lived in Hungary through the Nazi occupation. He is a U.S. citizen.
