Man accused of 'randomly' punching woman in head at Tigard Fred Meyer

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man is facing assault charges after police say he randomly punched a woman in the head at a Tigard Fred Meyer.

On Sept. 19, officers responded to the Fred Meyer on Southwest 72nd Avenue and Pacific Highway after an employee reported a customer leaving the store was "suddenly punched twice in the head," Tigard Police said in a release.

Officers soon learned the 61-year-old victim did not know the man who assaulted her. Authorities said she went to the hospital for evaluation and was released.

Meanwhile, officers attempted to track the suspect using a K-9 unit but were unsuccessful.

The suspect, identified by police as 25-year-old Isaiah Marquis, turned himself in to Tigard police on Thursday and was charged with fourth-degree assault.

No further information, including a motive behind the assault, has been released at this time.
