No. 8 Hogs Win Blessings Collegiate, José Marin Crowned Individual Champion
FAYETTEVILLE – No. 8 Arkansas picked up its first tournament victory of the 2024-25 season after winning the Blessings Collegiate Invitational team championship. The Hogs finished the event 12-under par and had a comfortable 32-shot margin over second-place finisher No. 16 Mississippi State. The squad has now won four of the last five team titles and set a new tournament record for the lowest women’s team score in the process.
Maria José Marin also went back-to-back and added her second career individual title. The sophomore set a BCI record for the lowest individual score (-11) and bested her 2023 score of -10.
Arkansas bounced back from a tough 5-over par round two and finished the day 8-under par. The round started with exceptional putting with José Marin sinking a 39-footer for birdie on hole No. 1. One hole later, Kendall Todd (E, T4) dropped a long putt for eagle on the par-5 second hole. Freshman Clarisa Temelo (+2, 7th) picked up her second birdie of the day on No. 9 via a 40-plus-footer from the fringe. The Hogs finished the front nine -2.
The Razorbacks started the back nine with three birdies on No. 10 from Temelo, Todd and Reagan Zibilski (-3, 3rd). Zibilski, who parred eight of the first nine holes, finished the round at even and added her first career top 5 finish. José Marin became uncatchable with two more birdies and no blemishes on the back nine.
The Hogs held three of the top four spots as Mississippi State’s Julia Lopez Ramirez (-5) finished runner-up.
Arkansas was the only team to finish under par.
