Netflix releases trailer for Ali Wong’s divorce-themed stand-up special ‘Single Lady’ [Watch]
Whoa-oh-oh! Comedian Ali Wong is back on Netflix for her fourth stand-up special, “Single Lady,” her first since her 2022 divorce. In it, she talks about her new life as a divorcée, in typically raunchy and unfiltered fashion. “I do believe that 40 is the golden age…to get divorced,” she jokes at the start of the trailer. She also jokes about how she’s now able to date men of a very wide age range, from 25 to 55 — though she has questions for older men, such as “Can you go on a brisk walk?” and “Can you digest red meat without getting a swollen toe the next day?”
The special was filmed in May at The Wiltern in Los Angeles as part of the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival. Wong’s previous Netflix specials are 2016’s “Baby Cobra,”2018’s “Hard Knock Wife,” and 2022’s “Don Wong.” She’s one of Netflix’s signature talents, rising to stardom with “Baby Cobra,” writing and starring in the Netflix original romantic comedy movie “Always Be My Maybe” in 2019, and starring in and executive producing the limited series “Beef” in 2023, which won her Emmys for Best Limited Series and lead actress; she’s the first Asian woman to win a lead acting Emmy.
Wong directed the special and executive produces with John Irwin.
“Single Lady” premieres on Netflix Tuesday, October 8.
