Glen Powell heads to Quahog in trailer for first-ever ‘Family Guy ‘Halloween special [Watch]
“Family Guy” is celebrating its 25th anniversary with something it has never done before: a Halloween special. Halloween episodes are a “Simpsons” thing, and they’re something “Family Guy” didn’t borrow…until now. On Thursday, Hulu released a trailer for the animated sitcom’s Halloween special, titled “Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Cheater.”
Per Hulu, the special follows Peter and his friends as they aim to unseat the reigning champion, Patrick McCloskey, in Quahog’s annual Pumpkin Contest by any means necessary. Patrick McCloskey is voiced by special guest star Glen Powell, and is a man who loves Halloween so much that he has pumpkin-colored hair. Derek Jacobi (“Gladiator”) also guests as the voice of Rupert, Stewie’s beloved teddy bear.
The trailer has jokes about the difference between people who try things on in the fitting room vs. people who try things on in the middle of the store, Cleveland wearing Yeezys because “they’re cheaper now,” and kids not being able to survive two seconds without the internet.
The special is a Hulu exclusive, which is different from normal “Family Guy” episodes, which first air on Fox before streaming on Hulu. A second holiday special for Hulu is also in the works. “Family Guy” will return to Fox for Season 23 at midseason.
Over the course of its 22-season run, “Family Guy” has received 32 Emmy nominations and nine wins, including Outstanding Individual Achievement In Animation in 2007 and 2010. It was created by Seth MacFarlane, who serves as executive producer and voices Peter, Brian, and Stewie Griffin, among other characters. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners.
The “Family Guy” Halloween special premieres Monday, Oct. 14 on Hulu.
