Make your voice heard during Queens Waterfront Greenway workshops
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – Queens leaders are making way for a new greenway.
The Department of Transportation is working to develop a Queens Waterfront Greenway for bikers and pedestrians. The project's leaders invite the public for their input on how the Greenway should be developed.
DOT, in partnership with NYC Parks and the NYC Economic Development Corporation, will host public workshops throughout October. Residents are welcome to discuss existing conditions and share comments, suggestions, and concerns.
"A waterfront Greenway in Queens will better connect residents to the East River and Long Island Sound through new bike paths and pedestrian space and create a critical commuting corridor for riders,” said DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez in a statement.
The Queens Waterfront Greenway is one of six new greenways the city is developing in the outer boroughs as part of an expansion plan announced in 2023. The city plans to create 60 miles of greenway corridors in Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
Those interested in attending a workshop for the Queens Waterfront Greenway can RSVP online.
