Laila completed her schooling at Aditi International School, Bengaluru. She then went to Massachusetts’ Waltham and earned a Bachelor’s degree. Then she went to New York and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. Laila tied knots to investment banker Samar Singh.
Lalila initiated her career as a stylist and designer of jewellery, lending her skills to the renowned brand, Vogue. As she progressed, she embarked on her own entrepreneurial journey by launching ‘Social Butterfly’, her personal brand. With a strengthened alliance with Kahava, a retailer based in Bangalore, she ensures flawless product sourcing. Laila Mallya’s Link To Lalit Modi
Laila, who creates beautiful jewellery designs, has recently teamed up with a popular Bengaluru-based lifestyle store known as Kahava. Interestingly, she rose to prominence amidst the turbulence of the IPL scandal, due to her connections with Lalit Modi, the past commissioner of IPL.
After the conclusion of IPL in 2010, reports of untoward behaviour, disorderly conduct, and financial abnormalities led to Modi’s suspension from the revered BCCI. The governing body quickly initiated an inquiry into these serious allegations. Come 2013, an assigned committee established Modi’s guilt on the stated charges, which resulted in his permanent disassociation from the organization. This incident cast a shadow on Laila as well, forcing her to step back from IPL and redirect her focus towards her alternate passion – Fashion.
