In a week where the Nifty and Sensex lost more than 4%, looking at stocks from sectors facing multiple headwinds – some for over three decades – may not appear a great idea. But these are sectors that, backed by government policies, have a chance to witness a turnaround. They are not short-term bets. In fact, they may underperform for another two years. But given that policy backing can change the fate of some sectors, it might be worthwhile taking the risk. Also, some stocks are in industries that impact the lives of many – so, for the government, it makes political sense to help them recover. Don't put all your money here.
