Artem Chigvintsev Counters Ex Nikki Garcia's Abuse Claims, Says She Was the Aggressor

Artem Chigvintsev is reacting to estranged wife Nikki Garcia‘s claims against him.

The 42-year-old dancer’s ex filed for a restraining order, and it was granted, and she provided statements alleging actions against her that led to his arrest in early August.

In a new filing, obtained by E! News, Artem is disputing the claims that he was violent towards her, and alleges she was the one who got violent.

The former DWTS pro also reportedly showed pictures of injuries on his neck, elbow and hand that came from her.

He says that when he took their son Matteo upstairs, it was to protect him from the situation that was escalated. Artem goes on to claim she barged into the room and began attacking him, which led to them grappling on the floor.

In his filing, Artem notes that he was the one to call 911, claiming Nikki said, “Do you understand how this is gonna go now Artem? You just ruined my career and you know it.”

“Due to the incident that led to Artem’s arrest on August 29, 2024, Nikki has decided to file for a temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order to protect herself and her son,” Nikki‘s rep told E! News. “Although Nikki requested that the Napa District Attorney not file charges against Artem as she did not want him to go to jail, he must still be held accountable for his actions, and Nikki and her son must be protected. Nikki’s number one priority has always been the wellbeing of her son.”

“She is thankful for all of the love and support she has received and continues to ask for privacy for her and her family during this difficult time,” the statement added.
