Bruins Make Training Camp Moves Ahead Of Preseason Finale
The Bruins made moves to their training camp roster ahead of their preseason finale Saturday.
General manager Don Sweeney announced in a press release Friday that Boston placed Michael DiPietro, Vinni Lettieri and Jordan Oesterle on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Providence.
The moves put the Bruins roster at 31 players, including forward Tyler Johnson, who is on a PTO, and defenseman Alec Regula, who is injured. Boston has until Monday to cut down the camp roster to 23 players.
Fabian Lysell was sent to Providence last Sunday, but he was brought back to Boston this week and played in Thursday's preseason loss against the Los Angeles Kings in Quebec City. Head coach Jim Montgomery said that was part of the plan and reiterated Sweeney's point of constant evaluation of the roster.
Players on the bubble likely will see more run in Saturday's preseason finale against the Washington Capitals, including new goaltender Jiri Patera, who didn't play Thursday due to a visa issue. Matthew Poitras and Brad Marchand remain day-to-day, and Charlie McAvoy missed practice Friday due to maintenance.
Puck drop for Saturday's Capitals matchup at Capital One Arena is scheduled at 5 p.m., and you can catch full coverage on NESN after an hour of pregame.
