ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, September 30 through October 4.
Guilderland ice cream shop closes after 15 years
Cone Zone, located at 2028 Western Avenue in Guilderland, has served its last ice cream cone. In a Facebook post on Friday, the shop announced that it has closed after 15 years.
Capital Region restaurant inspections: September 23-27
These are the inspections from September 23 to 27 reported by the NYSDOH divided up by critical violations, non-critical violations and no violations. You can find a list of all restaurant inspections for the last several years on the NYSDOH website.
Storybrook Hollow set to open Castle Brewery in Cairo
Storybrook Hollow, a fairytale-themed gift shop and event space located in the old Stone Tower Restaurant, is embarking on a new dream– a farm brewery in the castle. A grand opening for the brewery is scheduled for Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
Off the Beaten Path: Daisies Pasteles
Daisy Diaz is sharing a taste of Mexico with Albany and beyond. Her bakery, Daisies Pasteles, is a dream come true for the Albany High School graduate.
Tatu Tacos & Tequila in Troy closing its doors
Tatu Tacos & Tequila, located at 100 Congress Street in Troy, is permanently closing its doors. Owners Jennyfur Spaulding and Kareem NeJame made the announcement in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Taco Bell has grand opening in Glenville
A new Taco Bell has opened in Glenville. A grand opening for the business at 128 Freemans Bridge Road happened on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 9 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.
New bakery opening in downtown Troy
Luis Medina has been baking for years and thought he one day might open up his own shop. Now, that dream is coming true as he’s opening The Flour Bender Bakeshop in the former Plumb Oyster Bar space in Troy.
Bare Blends relocates within Stuyvesant Plaza
Bare Blends, a women-owned eatery in Stuyvesant Plaza will relocate to another space in the plaza, the plaza announced on Wednesday. The small business will relocate to a space in between Blaze Pizza and The Pottery Place.
Café and bookstore moving spots in Clifton Park Center
MochaLisa’s Caffé is relocating within Clifton Park Center Mall. The café and bookstore is moving from its spot next to GameStop to inside the mall food court.
Troy bar permanently closes after three years
Whiskey Pickle, located at 409 Fulton Street in Troy, has permanently closed its doors. The owners made the announcement in a Facebook post on September 27.
Participating restaurants for Downtown Troy Chowderfest
Downtown Troy Chowderfest is returning with its celebration of flavors on Sunday, October 13 from noon to 5 p.m. Local restaurants will get the chance to show off their finest chowders.
Altamont restaurant under new ownership
Farmhouse Tap + Tavern, located at 186 Main Street in Altamont, has a new owner. Outgoing owner Jackie Silvestri-Edwards made the announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page on October 2.
Another restaurant in downtown Troy set to close
Twisted Fiddler is the latest restaurant in Troy to announce that it’s closing. Owner Tim Taney posted the closure notice on social media and on the front door on Friday.
