'It's What's Inside 2': Director Talks Sequel Potential, Teases His Next Project

Greg Jardin, the writer and director of the new Netflix film It’s What’s Inside, is speaking out about the potential for a sequel.

The movie follows a group of friends who gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.

The indie film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and Netflix purchased it for $17 million.

“It was my first experience,” Greg told Variety. “With any of that stuff, there’s essentially a bidding war that lasted about 36 hours. I was in meetings with our financiers and sales agent. But when the bidding war ended and Netflix bought it for $17 million, I was like, ‘I can’t believe they spent this.’ I still can’t. I told them, ‘It’s crazy — you guys spent this much money on this movie.’ I’m very thankful. It’s awesome.”

So, will a sequel happen?

Greg told Variety that he’s open to a sequel, but hasn’t come up with an idea yet.

“People have been asking about that since Sundance, and I’ve been so shocked,” he said. “I guess time will tell, but there are no firm plans to do a sequel at this point.”

While he hasn’t revealed more details yet, Greg teased that his next project will be a “dramatic thriller.”
