Spurs have kept a close eye on the best-emerging talent from the EFL over the last few years and have not been shy of spending big on the best young talent from English football’s second tier.
The likes of Djed Spence, Ashley Phillips and Archie Gray have all been signed by the North London club on the back of their impressive showing in the Championship.
One player who Spurs now reportedly have their sights on is Hayden Hackey, with several reports over the last few months claiming that the Lilywhites are big fans of the Middlesbrough man (Northern Echo).

If TBR Football’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham may have to battle several of their Premier League rivals to secure Hackey’s signature.
This is because Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are now already plotting January moves for the midfielder in light of his impressive start to the season.
In fact, the outlet states that those two clubs and Wolves all sent scouts to the Hawthorns on Tuesday to watch the 22-year-old in action in Boro’s clash against West Brom.
Is midfield a priority area for Spurs?
While Spurs were linked with several energetic box-to-box midfielders in the summer, it remains to be seen if that position remains a priority for the North London club in January.
Following Ange Postecoglou’s decision to move Dejan Kulusevski to the number eight role, the Australian is certainly not short of options in the middle of the park at the moment.
