Bruno Richard wins the CRSA feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Saturday, October 5, 2024 – The first edition of the RaceFest kicked off today on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, as 6 different classes were in action including the first ever presence of the CRSA Sprints.
The 25-lap CRSA Sprints saw Bruno Richard taking the early lead over Tommy Moreau and Lee Ladouceur. Richard had his handful with Tommy Moreau and Jordan Hutton moving to third. Caution was out on lap 6 as Hutton went too high. Richard and Moreau were in battle for the lead as Ladouceur came back in third. Lap traffic was a factor in the final portion as quite the end of the feature as the top 3 exchanged the lead as Richard was was to keep the top spot and went on to win his first ever CRSA Sprints feature over Lee Ladouceur and Tommy Moreau completed the podium.
Patrick Delisle was the leader in the 25-lap Midget STR feature in front Keven Hebert and Carl Labonté. Hebert was able to pass Delisle for the lead on lap 10 and pulled away from the field. Hebert had a dominant run to win the event.
In the Mod-Lite feature, Alan Carrier was the early lead but got passed by Alex Forcier on lap 9. Forcier was quick in front as Pierre-Olivier Trudel made his way to the lead pack from his tenth spot. Alex Forcier was strong in the lead over Antonin Lafleur and Trudel in third. Forcier led the final laps to win the feature.
The second 20-lap Lightning Sprints feature closed out the afternoon, Yann Savard was quick in front over J-C Bolduc as Xavier Lauzon made his way to third. On a lap 9 restart, Xavier Lauzon took lead and never looked back to capture the event.
Stephane Philippe was the leader in the 25-lap Street Stock feature as he led the first 7 laps as caution was out for Eric Robichaud. On the following green, Philippe stayed first over Jonathan Galipeau and Nicolas Gauvreau. The top 2 pulled away from the field as the race reached halfway. Both drivers exchanged the lead but Philippe was the winner over Galipeau.
The Eastern Ontario Vintage Club was the first feature of the afternoon as Ian Gordon led the way over Randy Gaudet as both drivers were running well as Matt Barbour made his way to the front group after starting 10th, Barbour took the lead with only 1 lap to go.
We are back in action tomorrow for Day 2 of the Race Fest, we are starting 1 hour earlier as there is possible inclement weather later in the day.
