Sustained rise in antimicrobial resistance in India: ICMR study
A study by ICMR revealed that Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii showed resistance to imipenem among ICU patients with bloodstream infections. Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecium were resistant to oxacillin and vancomycin, respectively. A high resistance rate was also noted in bacteria causing UTIs and pneumonia.
