Watch moment WWE superstar attacks rival Cody Rhodes in car park after Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson return at Bad Blood
WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes was attacked by rival Kevin Owens in the parking lot after Bad Blood.
Rhodes, 39, competed in the main event on Saturday at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia as he teamed up with former foe Roman Reigns to beat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline.
But after picking up the win, the American grappler fell victim to a backstage assault from Owens who blindsided him and pummelled him with a series of punches as well as kicks.
The whole incident took place in front of a handful of fans while WWE personnel tried to pull KO away from the fallen world champion.
The two wrestlers have been at odds since August when The American Nightmare defeated Owens to retain his title at Bash in Berlin.
Since then, their feud has heated up with the Canadian bruiser expressing his frustration with Rhodes teaming up with Reigns.
Owens and The Tribal Chief have been feuding the last two years during the latter’s dominant 1,316-day world title reign, which was ended by the current undisputed champion at WrestleMania 40.
Of course the entire incident in the parking lot was part of a storyline that continues to evolve between the two professional wrestlers.
And that wasn’t the only notable incident involving Rhodes at Bad Blood.
After beating The Bloodline – with the help of the returning Jimmy Uso, who fought off WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa – the ex-AEW star and Reigns were confronted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
The Rock hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since the RAW show after WrestleMania in April.
That was after Johnson and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of Mania, before The Tribal Chief lost the title to The American Nightmare the next night.
The Hollywood megastar didn’t say anything, except count to three in an enigmatic gesture.
WWE, though, strongly suggested The Final Boss’ return would set up an imminent clash with Reigns, whom he was initially supposed to face at WrestleMania before the fans demanded Rhodes to be reinstated in the main event.
The two cousins could face off in a dream match either at Crown Jewel on November 2 or at Survivor Series on November 30.
The Rock hinted at an imminent clash with Rhodes during his most recent appearance six months ago, but Owens’ attack suggests the wrestler-turned-actor will first collide with Reigns.
