I built a light-up privacy fence using simple DIY staples – people say it’s the best home improvement they’ve seen

Shavonne (@onceuponabungalow_diy) has garnered almost 5,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she shares renovating her 1960s bungalow.

She unexpectedly went viral on YouTube Shorts with a 60-second clip showing how she made a privacy wall in her garden.

The impressive feature was detached from the existing wooden fence on the property.

Armed with a ladder and drill, she installed a tall wooden fence before getting creative with how to make it look more eye-catching.

“After digging the post three feet into the ground we added some pressure-treated pine to the privacy wall,” she said.

“Next up, we wanted to frame our acrylic panels to do this we cut it at a 45-degree angle and notched it with a table saw.

“By doing this we were able to fit the wood pieces over the acrylic pieces to make the perfect fence.”

Shavonne and her partner attached scraps of pine to the back of the acrylic panels to make them stand out from the fence.

They opted for black acrylic panels that had a decorative pattern.

“These panels are from our local hardware store and we haven’t added any stain or sealer to the wood just yet,” she said.

“We then added a planter box.”

Shavonne perfected the privacy fence by opting for hardwired lighting rather than solar-powered lamps.

Footage of the finished results showed the “beautiful” wooden privacy fence with three decorative panels hung above a planter box.

Two lights were installed in between the acrylic panels to illuminate the garden at night.
